Kiwi - the "Fuzzy Fruit"

KIWI the “Fuzzy Fruit"
Great Health benefits are attributed to eating this delicious and nutritious “Fast Food”:
-      A couple of Kiwis each day can significantly lower your risk for blood clots and reduce the amount of fats (triglycerides) in your blood.
-      Kiwi increases blood flow to the eyes and visual cortex
-      It’s a blood thinning alternative to Aspirin for protecting cardiovascular health (asprin and other NSAID drugs such as Thlenol and Ibuprofen can cause inflammation, ulcers and bleeding in the intestinal tract.)
-      100,000 people are hospitalized and 10,000 to 20,000 die from NSAID drug related complications each year.
-      Kiwi is an excellent source of Vitamins C (more than an orange) as well as vitamin E, polyphenols, magnesium, potassium, and copper - all working together to protect the blood vessels and the heart.
-      Kiwi is one of the most nutrient dense of the major fruits.
-      Lutein - effective in reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer. It may also help prevent cataracts & macular degeneration.  A serving (two medium sized kiwis) is the richest source of Lutein in the plant food world right behind fresh, organic yellow corn.
-      Kiwi contains soluble fiber that protects the heart and pancreas and insoluble fiber that reduces the risk of some cancers, constipation and diverticulitis.
-      Copper - vital for the growth of infants, bone strength, brain development, the making of red blood cells and building a strong immune system.
-      The heart works more efficiently with the help of potassium from fruits and vegetables.  Potassium is significant in controlling blood pressure, heart activity and maintaining fluid balance.  A serving of kiwifruit outranks bananas as the highest source of potassium among all fruits.
-      Folate, magnesium and vitamin E are well represented in kiwifruit - benefits range from bone formation to reduced heart disease.  Folate helps protect against birth defects, cancer and heart disease.  Magnesium aids in bone formation, heart rhythm regulation, muscle relaxation and nerve function.  Vitamin E reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer and exercise-induced oxidative damage.

I don't know about your neighborhood, but my Love Wholefoods and Publix has good deals on KIWI fruit.

Best wishes to you for a HEALTHY, HAPPY life!!!!
